Celebrating autumn in the book groups

Our children’s book groups this autumn have been organising events with authors and illustrators, celebrating 100th birthdays and chocolate, at schools and with families. If you are a member of the Federation of Children’s Book Groups you will read more about all these events in our Autumn Newsletter but here is a small taster…

Ipswich CBG had a a phizz-whizzing time enjoying wondercrump activities to celebrate Roald Dahl’s 100th birthday and are planning their own birthday party next month.

Reading hosted the wonderful illustrator Jim Kay, whose second illustrated Harry Potter book Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets has just been published.

South Bucks are presenting their own Chocolate Extravaganza at half term to hear the amazing story of chocolate from author Alex Woolf with chocolate-themed crafts and chocolate tasting. This is ostensibly to celebrate National Non-Fiction November but frankly who needs a reason…

And finally every year Aldbourne Children’s Book Group holds its famous Bonfire and Firework Party and this year it will be on Friday 4th November from 6 p.m. With chocolate?
