Could your book group or class help Jonathan Stroud write a new short story?

In the run up to Halloween, Jonathan Stroud, author of the Bartimaeus trilogy, will be writing an exclusive interactive story for Halloween based on the intrepid ghost hunters from his latest book, Lockwood & Co – but he needs help from children.

Kids are being invited to come up with a really scary ghost for inclusion in the story. They should describe how the ghost looks, and just why it’s so scary and then email their suggestions to childrens.books@theguardian.com by midnight on Monday 14 October. Stroud will pick his favourite, and put it in the story.

But involvement from kids doesn’t end there!

Starting on Saturday 26 October, Stroud will post six daily installments of his new Lockwood & Co adventure on the Guardian website, and each day, children will be able to vote for how the story develops.
