A fantastic ceremony at the Queen Elizabeth Hall at the Southbank Centre in London, compered by James Campbell, was the culmination of a year of testing and reviewing by children across the UK.

Our shortlisted authors were accompanied by last year's Overall Winner, Michael Morpurgo, Past winners Malorie Blackman and Korky Paul and by Steve Cole, as children from our testing groups came up on stage to announce the Winners in the Categories:

Younger Children: Chris Wormell with Scruffy Bear and the Six White Mice

Younger Readers: Liz Pichon with The Brilliant World of Tom Gates

Older Readers: Patrick Ness with A Monster Calls

Already we have national press coverage on the Guardian Children's web site and Patrick is to be interviewed by the Telegraph and on BBC Breakfast on Tuesday between 8.15 and 9.00.

Video clips of the ceremony should be available on YouTube shortly.
