Support Us

The Federation is all about families and local communities – parents, grandparents, carers – and supporting them in fostering a longlasting enthusiasm in their children for books and reading.

By offering stimulating, enjoyable book-related experiences at local book group events the children’s book groups, which together make up the Federation, provide a doorway into the wonderful world of books for all. Your support helps us to ensure that access to such opportunities is as wide and varied as possible.

How you can support us

We are grateful for all support, whether it is in kind, in time, or financial. If, like us, you are passionate about bringing children and books together in exciting ways here are some of the ways you can support us.

  • Join a local Children’s Book Group
  • Set up a local group
  • Join the National Executive of the Federation
  • Make a financial donation
  • Spread the word about the Federation of National Book Groups
  • Get sponsored to do something you’ve always wanted to do.

Join a local Children’s Book Group

To find out where your nearest local group is click here. If you have no Book Group nearby then you can join the national organisation, either as an Individual Member or a Professional Member. Click here to find out more about the different forms of membership and the benefits they bring.

Set up a local group

As an organisation we are very keen to support the establishment of new groups. We have a dedicated volunteer who supports new groups, as well as plenty of resources and reduced costs for a group in its first year. To find out more about setting up a local group click here or email the Group Liaison Officer. Running a local group is extremely rewarding!

Join the National Executive of the Federation

We are always happy to have enthusiastic people join our work on the National Executive of the FCBG. We meet four times a year in London, with most of our work conducted by email and phone. To find out more about what this voluntary role involves, please email the National Secretary.

Make a financial donation

Financial donations help us carry out our work supporting local Book Groups, running the National Non-Fiction Day, National Share-a-Story Month and more.

The Federation of Children’s Book Groups is a UK Registered Charity (Registered Charity no. 268289).

If you are a UK taxpayer and make your donation under the Gift Aid Scheme, we will be able to recover the tax you have paid.

If you would like to send a cheque donation please download and fill in this simple form:

Spread the word about the Federation of National Book Groups

If you would like any copies of our FREE booklists for your local libraries, schools and bookshops please email info@fcbg.org.uk.

For Press Releases click here.

If you would like to write about the work the Federation does e.g. on your blog or in your school newsletter, we are happy to share photos and provide quotes/someone for interview. Please email info@fcbg.org.uk

Get sponsored to do something you’ve always wanted to do.

We’d be very pleased to hear from you if you would like support from us in arranging an event to raise funds for the Federation e.g. a sponsored tea party or a readathon.

Thank you for your support. If you have any queries about ways in which you can support our work please email info@fcbg.org.uk
